The good weather is here, perfect for exploring the pretty village and the castle of Langeais which overlooks the Loire. The current castle between the Middle Ages (rampart side) and Renaissance (courtyard side) has remained anchored in its time and tells it perfectly. It is very well furnished, the Flemish tapestries from the 15th century are magnificent and have kept their colors of yesteryear. With a fascinating guide who takes you back in history and relive the marriage of Duchess Anne of Brittany with Charles VIII.
As a bonus at the moment, a superb exhibition on the art and fashion of the Renaissance… We haven’t invented much to make ourselves beautiful and show off!
(Leangeais is half an hour from Saint Branchs via the A85)
